SUMMARY:Webinar: Perinatal Grand Rounds - Redesigning Prenatal & Postpartum Care - A Collaborative Maternal Health Model for Clinical + Community Integration
DESCRIPTION:What happens when maternal health systems are designed to function beyond the walls of the clinic? This session explores how clinical care and community-based support can work together to improve maternal and infant outcomes across pregnancy\, birth\, and postpartum. Attendees will learn where collaboration creates the greatest impact\, what each side sees that the other often misses\, and how systems can operationalize stronger handoffs\, workflows\, and continuity of care. Designed for hospitals\, public health teams\, and maternal health leaders\, this presentation offers a practical framework for building more connected\, sustainable\, and family-centered maternal health systems. \nRegister

SUMMARY:CANCELLED - Webinar: Historical Trauma Effects on Maternal Health Among Indigenous Women-Past and Present
DESCRIPTION:Join Candi Cornelius\, MSN\, RN for the next installment of the Culturally Responsive Care Series. Indigenous women are two to three times likely to die of pregnancy-related causes then Caucasian women. Indigenous women experience disparities in pregnancy related death and maternal health conditions. Ongoing and Historical Trauma (colonization\, genocide\, forced removal and cultural erasure) contribute to these health inequalities. Today\, Indigenous women still experience discrimination or racism in health care settings (systemic barriers to care\, including higher rates of poverty and longer distances to quality health care services). Despite these challenges\, Indigenous people continue to be resilient and thrive due to protective factors (support systems\, spirituality and Indigenous specific resources/programs) along with receiving culturally responsive care which is key!
